What is “At Home” Support?
Apple is recognized as having some of the best customer support in the industry. Their At Home support team consists of three roles: At Home Advisor, At Home Team Manager, and At Home Area Manager.
These three main roles work together to ensure that customer’s questions about Apple’s products and services get answered in a timely, friendly, and professional manner. Support is provided via phone, chat, or email.
This support team works completely remote, meaning they work from the comfort of their own home. Although Apple is aware that it is more comfortable to work from home, they are outspoken in stating the nature of these roles is still professional and they expect nothing less.
At Home Advisor
The At Home Advisor is on the frontline of customer service and support- providing support for both software and hardware. They are responsible for speaking with customers directly. They answer technical questions, provide technical support and also assist with troubleshooting.
At Home Team Manager
The At Home Team manager is a team-focused position. Their responsibility is to manage the At Home Advisor via online meetings and coaching sessions to ensure Apple customers are receiving the best support possible.
At Home Area Manager
The At Home Area Manager’s responsibility is to supervise At Home Team Managers. They will ensure customers’ problems are being resolved appropriately. At Home Area Managers are expected to provide business-level consulting and results based on business requirements.

Paid Time Away
Also known as “paid time off” or “PTO”, Apple provides you with what they call “Paid Time Away”. This is essentially time you can accumulate, then use to get paid on days when you take off.
As part of the “At Home” support team, you will receive discounts on Apple products. According to Glassdoor, employees can get a 25% discount once per year on a computer. Once every three years, employees can get $250 off an iPad or $500 off a Mac. Apple software is discounted 50%. There might also be additional discounts for friends and families depending on the product.

Apple provides a paid nine-week virtual training led by a live instructor. In this training, you will be taught product lessons, advanced troubleshooting, job-specific tools and processes, and Apple’s unique approach to customer support.

Advisors usually hear about new products and innovations before the public.
You will be provided with your very own iMac and headset to be used solely to conduct your duties at work.
What is Required?
Before you apply, there are a few things you’ll need:
- A quiet space that is free of distractions where the door can be closed
- An ergonomic chair
- A hard-wired Internet connection (10mbps download and 3mbps upload)
- The ability to be able to type at least 35 WPM
- Mac and Apple product experience isn’t required, but it is a benefit
- Proven technical ability and troubleshooting experience
- Customer service focus and a passion for support
- The ability to multitask
- A love for tech and helping people
- The ability to work on holidays, weekends, and peak hours
Before you apply, make sure you live within about 100 miles of the position location you are applying for.
If you do apply, you’ll be requested to complete a video conference interview. If they decide to move forward with you, you’ll be requested to complete a background check. Once your background check comes back, you will then begin the onboarding and training process.
Apple can be a great company to work for. They provide you with the opportunity to work from the comfort of your own home, a benefits package at full-time or part-time, and a pretty decent wage ($14-$16 per hour for At Home Advisor). They do, however, request that you be able to work on holidays, weekends, and peak hours. Like anything, this is a job and effort will be required from you.
